In April, Climate Women Media Action(CWMA) in partnership with HE IS LIKE ME INTERNATIONAL, a refugee led organization conducted a Digital Skills workshop training for refugee youth in Kyebando.
‘’Learning digital marketing gave me more than skills it gave me confidence. I can now help small businesses in my community grow online,’’ said Shikaneza Peace Pavel a refugee from Burundi.
Climate Women Media Action trained 23 youth and refugees from DR Congo, Burundi and Uganda. The training empowered youth with digital skills to help them increase their employability in the current competitive and ever evolving job market.
Over the course of the training, participants explored hands-on skills in videography, photography, short skit production, graphic design using Canva, and digital marketing. Guided by our passionate team of creatives and changemakers, these young leaders transformed raw ideas into powerful visual narratives.
The program not only equipped them with technical expertise but also nurtured confidence, creativity, and a sense of belonging. From conceptualizing climate skits to designing vibrant graphics that reflect their heritage and hopes, the youth redefined what it means to reclaim agency through media.
Our mission is rooted in amplifying under-represented voices, and this collaboration was a clear reflection of that. These youth now hold tools to navigate today’s digital world, and the confidence to dream bigger within it.
