Building A Green Future
We foster impactful climate coverage by female journalists in Uganda and the world.
An Initiative by women for women
Our Key Focus Areas
Our approach
There is a dearth of practical research on climate reporting for journalists in Uganda, especially the kind of research that helps journalists and newsrooms, but also informs the work of climate media support organisations such as CWMA. To bridge this gap, CWMA has dedicated a range of resources to help journalists report well on the beat.
Workshops
We organize workshops where young female journalists learn about climate science, adaptation strategies, and effective communication. These sessions equip them with the tools to convey complex climate issues to diverse audiences.
Storytelling for Change
Our journalists use their storytelling skills to highlight climate-related challenges, innovations, and community resilience. Through articles, podcasts, and multimedia content, they inspire action and raise awareness.
We seek to build climate resiliency
We empower young, female journalists to reclaim their space in Climate discourse and drive change in their communities by enhancing their skills in climate change reporting, providing education materials and opportunities and mentorship.
By prioritizing women’s representation in the media
We amplify their voices particularly in addressing climate change issues as they are disproportionately affected by the issue.
On our socials
The media is a critical agent in the way that climate change issues are framed and conveyed. How best can we support them to ensure effective communication of this global issue.
